Communications & Networks

Experience includes communication strategies, network design, specification, procurement and security, covering voice, data and image communications, local area networking (including LAN operating systems), wide area networks, PABX selection, radio systems and public telecommunications services.

Projects include:

• Communications strategy review for a public utility covering all aspects of voice and data communications including an investment analysis and recommendations on communications management.
• Communications strategy for a government department including local area and wide area networks. The strategy identified the network architecture needed and recommended a procurement plan, leading to the preparation of a business case and a security strategy.
• Feasibility Study into the use of a Managed Data Communications Infrastructure, encompassing a building cabling and LAN service, a metropolitan (wide area) LAN interconnect service, a country-wide network service and an inter-domain message transfer and directory service.
• Procurement, installation and acceptance of networking facilities to support 3,000 users via LAN connected PCs and UNIX systems, and remote PCs. The services provided were electronic mail, fax, terminal access to information systems, CD- ROMs and file servers.
